I gave this book only three stars out of five because, I do not really like the ending, but as I started the book I really liked it and and wanted to read on!

Setting~ The setting in this book is in Wilmington North Carolina. 

Main Characters~

•      John Tyree: A 23 year old, which at the beginning of the book he is was always at the bar, got fired from many jobs, and was very impatience with his father. Then Johns character really starts to change when he realizes that he needs to do something with his life, so he enters the army and comes back to his home town every once in a while for a couple weeks at a time, this really helps john get his act together and he turns into a very nice helping man.
•     Savannah: She is a very generous to others, and cares very deeply for other people. Her character stayed the same throughout the whole story.
•     Johns Dad: He is a very unusual guy. Man of very little words, and has an obsession over collecting special coins, which his collection was worth a fortune, but he did not plan on using it on anything. He loved John but did not show it, or did not act as a normal father does to his son.
•      Tim: Tim was one of Savannah's closest friends, they grew up living right next to each other there whole life. He is a very nice man, who is very easy to talk with. He is very patient and understanding of his little brother Alan which has autism.

Main Plot Events~ 

        At the beginning of the book John was a rebel and did not care about going to college or even thinking about his future, then one day when he got a call from his ex-girlfriend, it hit him that he needs to do something with his life. So he signed up for the army, so he could give his dad some rest from having him around. John comes back a while later and meets a girl Savannah, and he immediately falls in love with her. Savannah waits for him while he is away at war, and they write back and fourth. One day John gets a letter which breaks his heart and changes his life. Savannah had moved on and was getting married. 

    John comes back to Wilmington for his fathers funeral a couple years later, and finds Savannah and talks to her. John also inherited all of his fathers coins which was a fortune. Do you think that John can get the love of his life back?

Conflicts~

     Internal: John finally realizes and wonders to himself what he is going to do with his life. He feels like it would be best to join the army. 

     External: John yelling at his dad and getting mad at his dad. John getting fired from many jobs.

Recommendation~ 
     I would recommend this book to people who like young adult books, and kind of romance.
