Kite Runner English 2 Period 5 Kai Thongsrisubskul

The Kite Runner

5/5
Amir deals with his guilt over the course of the book as he grows up in Kabul, and moves to the United States.

Setting: Kabul, and California

Amir is growing up in Kabul with his Father Baba and a Hazara boy named Hassan. The title of the book comes from one of Amir and Hassan's activities which is Kite running. Competitions would be held where people would cut the strings off other kites, with their own kite, while the other person would catch it as it falls to the ground.

Events:
Assef, who idolizes Adolf Hitler believes that the Hazaras are to be servants fights Amir and Hassan using brass knuckles. Hassan dodges Assef and pulls out a sling shot and aims it at Assef's left eye. Assef leaves but swears revenge.

Assef gets his revenge on Hassan, and Amir watched and never told anyone. Amir deals with guilt throughout the rest of the book.

Amir and Baba move to the United States where Amir marrys, but recent events call him back to Kabul

Recommendation:
I would recommend this book to anyone that is interested in reading about a boy turn into an adult as he deals with guilt almost his whole life

  1. This book seems like it has a really cool and intense premise. I'd like to read this sometime. I think it would be helpful to add a bit more detail into the blog, so that we really get to understand the book. :)
