Warpath of the Mountain Man
by William W. Johnstone

5 stars*****
I would give this book five stars because it was a very good book. I like this book because there is a lot of action in it.

Setting
This book takes place in Big Rock, Colorado. It is a western book with horses and gunmen.

Main Characters
The main character is Smoke Jensen who saves the town of Big Rock when somebody robs the bank.
Smoke Jensen: He is a cowboy who is very deadly with a gun, but he is not a bad guy. When two men rob the bank the bank teller came running out saying ¨They´re robbing the bank¨ and the one of the bad guys shoots the teller in the back. Smoke Jensen then shoots the robbers. After the shooting, somebody thought Smoke Jensen was the man that shot the teller and that is why he is all wrapped up in this killing.

The main conflict in this book is that when the bank teller got shot people thought Smoke Jensen shot him, but Smoke had to prove them that it was the bank robber that killed the teller. It is a external conflict with Smoke Jensen and the Sheriff.

I would recommend this book to anybody that likes western books. This book is kind of like Louis Lamour and it has lots of action.

The Six Rules Of Maybe

Teryn Turner Period 2
If i stay by Gayle Forman

Image result for if i stay

  • I give this book a 4 out of 5 stars because it is very interesting and keeps you entertained throughout the entire book
  • The book If I Stay takes place in a town near Portland Oregon. The accident takes place on a rural road outside the town. Mia's reflections on her life bring in a number of other locations
  • Mia Hall is the seventeen-year-old protagonist in If I Stay, and the novel is told from her point of view. she plays the cello and is likely Julliard-bound after she graduates from high school. She is close with her mom, dad and eight-year-old brother Teddy. Mia spends most of her time with her family, her boyfriend Adam and best friend Kim. Music is very important to Mia, as her parents were members of the punk rock scene in their younger days, and she grew to have a deep love of classical music. She often feels out of place in her family, though, due to her commitment to classical music rather than rock.

  • The first major even is while Mia and her family are in the car on a snowy day, they get into a car accident. And the car Swiveled off the slippery, snow covered road. Mia wakes up laying in the snow. She think she sees Teddy in the snow too, so she runs over to him, only to find herself laying there. Confused, she states screaming for help but no one hears her. the remainder of the book Mia is like a ghost watching over her body debating on whether or not she should stay or leave. She has flashbacks on he life before the accident and how good it was and where she could be going in life. Later on in the book Adam comes to the hospital to visit Mia. He gives Mia a speech about how much he wants her to stay alive.
  • I would defiantly recommend this book for anyone looking for fast-paced adventure and a really gripping plot

Other Broken Things

Skylar Miles period.2
Other Broken Things By C.Desir
Image result for other broken things
  • A Rating of 4 stars
  • The main setting of the book takes place in an old house meant for AA  meetings
  • The main character Natalie is a 17 year old girl who is just trying to find her way in life but things just keep bringing her down so she ends up turning to alcohol
    • In Other Broken Things Natalie starts off in the book straight out of rehab because she was with her friends and being reckless, they drove a car intoxicated and she now has to attend six months of AA meetings. Natalie attends the AA meetings frequently and ends up meeting a potential love interest named Joe however he's quite a bit older. Natalie is pretty much all on her own throughout the book she loses a lot of friends because they just want to party and Natalie is still trying to get better.
  • The main conflict of the book is when Natalie meets Joe at AA meetings, Natalie ends up falling in love with Joe but the issue is, is that Joe is over twenty years older then Natalie! Regardless of the situation they know they cant be anything more then friends but Natalie's already going through a lot with recovering and trying to deal with her "new life" temptation becomes extra harder for her.
  • I would defiantly recommend this book to anyone who could maybe relate to Natalie or is going through a lot because this book really does just put it how it is no sugar coating. However some aspects in "Other Broken Things" is rather dark it covers sexual assault, alcohol and drug abuse and self harm but I defiantly think its worth the read. If you have ever seen or read "recovery road"  relates to other broken things a lot.

Review of The Lost Years of Merlin Anthony Achurra P2

Anthony Achurra P2
The Lost Years of Merlin by T.A. Barron
Image result for the lost years of merlin book 1
I give this book 5 stars, I really enjoyed it.

The book starts out on a beach and ends on the island of Fincarya, a mystical island.

    The main characters are:

  • Emrys, also known as Merlin is the main character of the book.
  • Branwen, who come to find is actually named Ellin of the sapphire eyes. She is the apparent mother of Emrys.
  • Rhia is Emrys best friend. She is a forest girl meaning she has grown up in the forest. She can also talk to trees.
  • Shimm, (although very little) is a giant that befriends Emrys and Rhia.
The book starts out with Emrys washing ashore on an unknown island. As he looks along the beach he see's an oak tree, as he looks more to his left he see's a woman lying on the beach who had obviously washed ashore along with him. Emrys later finds out he has powers and accidentally kills his bully while becoming blind in the process. When Emrys finds out he has a second sight he leaves to discover his origins. This is where he meets Rhia and Shimm.

The main conflict in the book is the king of Fancarya, Stangmar who is trying to destroy Fancarya by bring evil power over the island.

Anyone who is into things that involve magic, journeys, and conflict would love this book.

Alora's Book Blog

Stars:
✩✩✩✩✩
I gave this book five stars because it is very entertaining. It is funny. It is sad. It is nerve racking. This book makes you feel everything and it is great. when I was reading this book I felt like I really knew the character and everything he as going through.

Setting:
This story takes place in Florida mostly at a boarding school called Jefferson lake. It is Modern day I think around 2104/2015. The story is over the course of about a year with some flashbacks.

Main characters:
The main character in this book is Lee Adams he is sarcastic funny  and sweet but he is also depressed, has major anxiety, and claustrophobia. Lee's parents died when he was 15 in a car accident so his 19 year old brother is his guardian.

Main plot:
Lee is still struggling with the fact that his parents are gone after attempting suicide he was moved to a new boarding school {Jefferson Lake} he makes new friends and meets a girl which he cant really get close too due to the anxiety and claustrophobia. him and his brother are pretty close but they do tend to fight a lot but they always push through while trying to get over his depression and all his other disorders he is trying to have  normal life which turns out to be not so easy. Lee has panic attacks all the time whenever he gets too close to someone so he is just trying to overcome it.

Conflicts:

Internal conflicts: Lee deals with his anxiety and his depression and his claustrophobia all while still dealing with the death of his parents. This is all messing with his emotions and he is just trying to keep it together. He uses art to get through it.

External conflicts: Lee has lots of panic attacks. so when he meets a nice girl he wants to get close with it is a little more difficult than your average relationship. just holding her hand could make him freak out.

Recommendation:
I definitely recommend this to people who like to feel all the emotions. and who want to go on a crazy emotional adventure. it is a super good book.

The Kite Runner

5/5
Amir deals with his guilt over the course of the book as he grows up in Kabul, and moves to the United States.

Setting: Kabul, and California

Amir is growing up in Kabul with his Father Baba and a Hazara boy named Hassan. The title of the book comes from one of Amir and Hassan's activities which is Kite running. Competitions would be held where people would cut the strings off other kites, with their own kite, while the other person would catch it as it falls to the ground.

Events:
Assef, who idolizes Adolf Hitler believes that the Hazaras are to be servants fights Amir and Hassan using brass knuckles. Hassan dodges Assef and pulls out a sling shot and aims it at Assef's left eye. Assef leaves but swears revenge.

Assef gets his revenge on Hassan, and Amir watched and never told anyone. Amir deals with guilt throughout the rest of the book.

Amir and Baba move to the United States where Amir marrys, but recent events call him back to Kabul

Recommendation:
I would recommend this book to anyone that is interested in reading about a boy turn into an adult as he deals with guilt almost his whole life
